A. Garrigues Walker, Chairman of the Garrigues foundation and Honorary Chairman of the law firm Garrigues, is an internationally-renowned Spanish jurist, particularly prominent is his work as adviser on foreign investments in Spain for major multinational companies and governments of countries such as the US or Japan. He has also advised the Spanish government on matters of financial legislation.
Garrigues, who was Chairman of the World Association of Lawyers, is Honorary Member of the American Bar Association and Honorary President of the Spanish Committee of the UNHCR. He has always played an active role in Spain’s social, economic and political life, and was founder of the Spanish Chapter of Transparency International (TI), a global anti-corruption organization.
He is Honorary Chairman of the Garrigues law firm, founded by his father and his uncle, which he joined in 1954 and where he became Chairman in 1961, being only 27 years old. Today he is Chairman and Director at various companies, and Doctor Honoris Causa from several universities in Spain and Argentina. He acts as speaker in numerous seminars and conferences worldwide.
